Couldn’t agree more! In 2018, generalist supply chain roles struggle to survive – we have had to adapt & specialize, like the military or other parts of business, to let our knowledge workers achieve exceptional results in what they personality, interests, and skills support. Those SCM specialities working in-concert with one another has yielded far greater sufficiencies (superior to groups of buyer-planners being “the supply chain wizard” that spends most of their time firefighting & expediting).
