Thanks for this wonderful and inspirational story Richard. Our generation is a lot more fortunate since we have access to readymade tools and in-built forecast models that could be used. To do what you did way back in the 80s is truly remarkable. Tying market intelligence to demand plans still remains a very skillful task to this day. I completely agree with Sujit – you are truly a hero for our community.

Richard, great stuff! Today, it would be considered breakthrough analytics to tie consumption to shipments. Who would of known that all of us back in the early 1990’s were over 20 years ahead of our time.

Today, only a handful of companies are successfully using consumption and predictive analytics to forecast demand.
